Nigel Bassett D.O. GOsC Reg. Ost.

Nigel was born and grew up in Hastings. He studied at the European School of Osteopathy in Maidstone and he successfully completed the undergraduate course of four years in 1986.

He initially joined practices in Lewis, Seaford and London and started the Hastings Osteopathic Practice on a part time basis the same year as graduating. As the practice went on to develop he gradually reduced his participation in the other practices and in 1988 opened the Rye Osteopathic Practice. This was then followed by the Bexhill Osteopathic Practice in 1992.

These practices have developed for more than 25 years and now offer a wide range of osteopathic techniques which are provided by 13 osteopaths in total. Nigel also joined the faculty at the European School of Osteopathy as an assistant lecturer in 1986. He then went on to lecture in orthopaedics, osteopathic medicine and osteopathic business practice. Throughout this period in the school he has been a clinical tutor to the under graduate students at the college and still remains a member of the faculty.

The main aim of the practices has always been to look the at body from a holistic view. By keeping our fees low and reasonable our main aim is to enable as many people as possible to take advantage of the benefits of our treatments.

During the years when GP’s had fund holding contracts our practices were among the first to receive patients from the NHS on a funded basis. The option grew considerably over the ten years and the system was put in place that led to GP referrals up until this very date. Since the removal of the fundholding contract this has now changed to fee paying basis.
